At Spoons Café we offer foods inspired by our Appalachian-Celtic roots.  Salad dressings, soups, desserts and entrees are made from scratch and whenever possible we will support our local farmers by buying locally raised or produced food products.

The traditional food and drink of the Celtic people consisted mainly of root vegetables such as carrots and potatoes, grains, buttermilk, ale as well as a limited amount of meat and fish.  A diet dictated by circumstances and climate, it bred a race of people with the strength and stamina to withstand the cold, damp climate of the Celtic nations and to work long hours in the fields and on the water.

We are also members of the Slow Food Organization.
Slow Food is a non-profit, eco-gastronomic member-supported organization that was founded in 1989 to counteract fast food and fast life, the disappearance of local food traditions and people's dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes and how our food choices affect the rest of the world.  Today, we have over 85,000 members in 132 countries.
